Night and Blue Hour Photography

Why put your camera away after golden hour? When the sun goes down, you have an incredible opportunity to create unique images that you will be proud to share.
As long as you have a basic understanding of shutter speed, ISO and aperture, this course is designed to teach you everything you need to know to create stunning images at night and take your landscape and cityscapes to a new level.

What we will cover in the online lecture
- How to compose, focus and find your exposure in the dark
- Using existing light and painting with light
- Planning a trip or night photography excursion
- Tips and tricks to create effects in your images.
Friday, September 18, 8:00 - 10:00pm University Of Washington and/or Saturday, September 19, 8:30-10:30pm Rattlesnake Lake (On-Location Workshop)
Don’t put your camera away after the sun sets! Join us for one of two great shooting experiences, or come to both! On September 18th we head to University Of Washington’s Red Square during the blue hour, where Brian will help you discover interesting compositions based on his years of experience photographing at night in an urban setting.
On September 19th we will head to Rattlesnake Lake in Northbend to photograph surreal landscapes under natural moonlight.
This is a great opportunity to put your newfound knowledge into practice.
What you will need for the on-location workshop
- Camera with the ability to take a 15-30 second exposure
- A sturdy tripod & extra battery
- Weather-appropriate clothing
